Large yellow loosetrife, Lysimachia punctata. Spreads freely, very tolerant.

Lysimachia punctata and in perfect conditions it will run freely. it can be a thug if you are not careful.

It’s very invasive if allowed to be, keep it in check by reducing the clump in the autumn, does well in pots, and as a rule flowers early June into mid July, as autumn approaches the leaves can take on pinky yellow tones which look great.

I think they used to be part of shrub for hedging when sold in group of five types to give a variegated hedge. Agree with previous comment very invasive, and hardy.

this isn't a shrubby type though, I wonder if you are thinking of Hypericum one of the st john's wort type.
this plant dies down totally in the winter just leaving bare stems that rot away.
