Have I lost some of my aubretia plants? Now they’ve finished flowering they are just dry shrivelled stems. I can’t for the life of me remember what they look like after flowering has finished. Will the green come back when it eventually rains? Watering doesn’t seem to help

depends on how long they have been dry for. there should be some leaf visible as a mat. but if the main growing point of the plant is alive it will regrow once it has enough water.

Thanks, SBG. I fear they will need replacing next spring as there is no rainfall on the horizon yet. Some pinks are going the same way too. Looks like I’ll have to give them all a good regular soak.

Try deadheading them as well as giving them a good soak. The flowered stems do go brown as thy go to seed, but, as ling as the plants are alive, if you regularly deadhead they'll keep producing new flowers all Summer.

Thank you both. There are some tiny green leaves left but not many, most of the plants affected look like brown straw. You'd think I would know after growing aubretia for many years but a failing memory just won't let me visualise how they look once flowering is over.

Old age is a wonderful thing!
