Scilla peruviana,

I noticed today that these have started sprouting. its the first time I have noticed this and I have had them in the garden for about 10yrs now.

Any suggestions as to what to do if anything. Hubby says he'd be tempted to add more soil on top but sense tells me they will just continue to grow through.

Has any one else's done this yet?

Such a strange season its been. I found a dog violet in flower today! Iwouldn't think you can hold your scillas back if they want to go...As a long shot you could buy some more bulbs and plant for next spring? double the pleasure.

My grape hyacinths always start to appear in September but this year there is a proper hyacinth shooting aswell as a couple of blossoms on the wisteria. A strange year indeed but we didn't even have a draught up here. Green grass all year.

I've never grown them, but having just read up about the plant, it seems its usual for foliage to start to appear in late summer - it hangs on as far as possible through winter, until ready to flower in spring. Check the link below - you'll have to scroll down to just under the third photo

It normally sprouts leaves in the fall where I am, and then blooms in February.
