We have to temporarily remove a David Austin climbing rose which has only been in place for about 8 months. Should we remove it only for the time the necessary work is being done to the surrounding drains - a day or two or remove it now and place it in a temporary pot of soil well watered ? It’s now about 6 feet high and doing well.
Thanks togram.

i'd put in a pot of compost and keep it well watered or wrap the roots in sacking and keep that damp. that's how they are shipped but as this is in full leaf I would go for the pot. I'd also prune it down by half to reduce water loss from the leaf.
