Something appears to be eating my castor oil plant - has holes in leaves? What can I do?

Most likely slugs and/or snails - use slug pellets around the base of the plant, inspect the leaves and stems and pick off any you find, if there are any during the day on there. this assumes the holes are not pin prick sized, were not brown, dead areas before they became holes, and don't have yellow haloes around them.
