Terciera, Azores, Portugal Pt

I got this from a neighbor about 20 years ago, and it has been struggling to survive as it has been mostly in the shade. I finally exposed it to the sun and it has really taken off. I know it is some type of Monarda, but does anyone know which. From the photos I've seen, most are very open, but all the flowers on this are more closed like this one.

On plant Monarda

Instead of Monarda, try searching online for images of Justicia carnea (also known as Jacobinia carnea) for a match.

Longleaf has it right. Definitely a Brazilian Plume Flower. We grow it here in partial shade because it's not happy with 47º C plus temperatures. Much better in the full sun, if the temps permit. It also has red and white flowering varieties.

Thanks, that makes sense since there are a lot of Brazilian plants around here.

How do I say thanks?
