Hi All.
My Mimosa Tree is getting too big so I want to move it if possible to another part of the garden, I was thinking what would be the best time & how to dig it up? xx

I don't think that you will be able to move this tree as it has become too big. If you wanted to chance it, then I would reduce it by at least one third in height and the same with the width. You would need to dig it up with as much of the soil around the roots as possible and I would wait 'till the spring to do it. But as it is a beautiful tree, I would leave it where it is.

Hi Jimmy. Thanks for your advice.
I have some shrubs behind it so this is why I want to move it :o))
I will cut it back after it has flowered, which I'm looking forward to & take my chances in moving it, if it doesn't make it I will buy another on :o))

Why not move the shrubs instead? You'll probably stand a better chance of success. Moving the tree will almost certainly kill it, especially if you do it while it isn't dormant.

It looks ok where it is to me. I'd follow Steras advice. It's a nice tree & it would be a pity to lose it.

You've All made my mind up, its staying where it is, I can't move the other shrubs so they will have to stay put too :o)) and hope they don't mind this tree taking over LOL, on is a Weigela and a Euonymus "Emerald 'n' Gold that I can hardly see now :o((
