I have successfully resurrected my first ever Amaryllis from dormancy over the summer months. I was delighted to see the green tip appear after a couple of weeks. It is now emerging more and I do not want anything to go wrong. I am keeping it just moist, watering from the base. Any tips for further care of this plant.

excellent stuff D, I have four which I allowed to dry out over the last few weeks when the leaves finished. Hopeing they will get going again at some point. Also a 1st for me if they do !!

Well done! Give it some liquid food too and only water when it's getting dry.

I have had an amaryllis for 4 years now but it has never been dried out. I have been following instructions from a magazine to cut the flower stem off after it has flowered and starts to wilt. Then to leave the plant in a bright place and to continue watering it. It then flowers again the next season. Am i not doing the correct thing?

You can leave them growing all year, but I prefer to give them some time off!

Thank-u one and all. My Amaryllis has now produced three very strong leaves which grow bigger everyday. I never quite believed anything would emerge from the shrinkled corm which in its pot had spent the entire summer under the bench in the greenhouse. Fingers crossed as I await a flower, perhaps flowers!
