Amelanchier. Please could somebody tell me which is the bushiest variety of Amelanchier? I'm intending growing it as a shrub, and keeping it to 4 - 5ft. Thanks.

Ballerina is a smallish form, but just keep it well pruned to the size you want.

Many thanks, Seaburn.

'Ballerina' is huge with us - very tree-like in habit too - and in fact Hilliers' describes it as "A vigorous large shrub or small tree."

'Princess Diana' is the bushiest that I've grown, but, given it's parentage, I imagine this too will turn tree-like eventually.

'Eskimo', 'Edelweiss' and 'Helvetia' are all very much compact and bushy in habit, however.

That's brilliant, Ilex. I'll Google them now . . . hadn't realised there were so many different varieties (and I wonder why they're given arctic/swiss names?!).

Thank you very much!
