Hello everyone, So sorry I haven't been in touch for so long. I was away for Christmas and since then I have been in New Zealand. I'm afraid I have come home to a very sad sight. Many of my patio plants have been killed off with the frost. I suppose I should have taken them in or at least covered them. My worst discovery was the garden plants. The lovely phormia [see photo] I had at the front of the house looks completely dead and so does the hebe. Does anyone have any idea if they will come back or should I just dig them out and discard them?

Hard to say really - I'd wait another month or so to see if any new growth appears, but in April, you can certainly cut off any dead growth present on the Phormium. Cut the Hebe back if necessary if/WHEN it starts to show growth, and cut back to that.

Many thanks Bamboo I will do that and see how they go. This is what I thought at first, but te phormium looks so untidy, and it sits right outside my front door.

How do I say thanks?
