What would be the best climber to grow in a large pot up a north east facing wall?

Hiya! the only one I can think of is Parthenocissus (Virginia Creeper). I inherited one in my current garden but moved it from the north-east situation to west facing last year...its still doing well, despite my cutting it down to almost ground level when I moved it!!
Polygonum (Russian Vine) and Hydrangea Petiolaris are also not fussy where they grow - but can be extremely vigorous - don't plant against a house wall!!
Best of luck, j :-D

Welcome to GOY. Hydrangea Petiolaris would be a good choice I think. It will need support until the pads which attach it to the wall grow strong enough to support it. You can also trim it to size. Do not plant any plant against a wall before checking that the pointing is in good order.

I grow a climbing rose, Golden Showers, and a clematis Gypsy Queen together on a north wall and they do very well.
