I want to grow a rose that's good for cutting, perfumed, and will cope with partial shade against a north west facing stone wall. I understand that Mme Alfred Carriere and Mme Gregoire Staechelin are good. Does anyone know if either of these work well as cut flowers? Or any other recommendations? Thanks!

the two varieties you mention should do reasonably well against a north west wall - unfortunately, they're not on the list of good cutting roses. Most roses that make good cut flowers are hybrid teas or floribundas, and in general require a fair amount of sunshine to grow and flower successfully.

How do I say thanks?
