I.D please.

Pictured is leaf, bud and seed. Taken today.
This is from around a 20 foot plant/tree. I think it possibly started as a shrub,is multistemed. Very overgrown and in poor health. I can provide more information if necessary and pic of whole plant next week if these pictures are not sufficient.

That's what I thought when I saw the leaves

A pix of the whole tree/shrub would be good Funguy. Just been to look at neighbours lilac and the leaves look a little broad for lilac but it could be, pix of whole thing would make it easier.

Ok MrsM...I will take one and post it soon. I went to take my camera with me today but the battery was dead ....When i upload photo's to my computer, i always seem to forget to turn the camera off after doing so,then first thing this morning went to turn it on and..... argh!

After looking at some pics on google, i think Lilac is likely.
Thanks Pimpernel and Scottish.

It would be good to show you all the whole plant though, it is a right mess and i'm not sure what to do with it.

It was the leaves for me as well Scottish.., I either cut them for the vase or tidying the bush..So I have never seen the seed.

I've never seen the seeds either Pimpernel. I nip the spent flowers off.
MG is right funguy, best with a pic of the whole plant

Looking at the seedheads, that is definitely lilac - they grow semi-wild here.

I'd go for lilac too, seed pod is a dead give away.

It's all about trying even if we get it wrong, that's one plant that eliminated from the search and hopefully another suggestion put forward :0)

Yeah good job Scottish, thank you and thanks for all the replies and investigative work! I'll prune as per a grossly overgrown Lilac tree :)
