I have just purchased 4 hyacinth bulbs at Lidl. They are in small cardboard pots and the whole bulb apart from the very bottom (which rests on the soil) is visable. There is three inches of growth on each one and they look as though they may flower soon. Do I re-pot into my decorative pot or simply stand the cardboxes inside and let them carry on as is?

I would re-pot them into your bowl, keeping them at the same level as they are now. It will be easier to water them out of the cardboard.

I don't know what kind of cardboard pots you have, but if they are anything like a Jiffy pot, I would try to remove them without damaging any roots. At the least, cut at the soil level and toss the upper part before planting.

And, next year, plant them in the garden - mine lasted about 5 years before the Great British Winter got them!
