what would the optimum distance for planting from one another to give te best effect?

On plant Buddleja davidii

If you plant in groups of 3 18inches apart in a triangle, each shrub pointing out at an angle to form one large shrub, all planted in one area up to 2yards between each group, giving you 4 groups. You will have a brilliant display in a few years.
