Dicksonia antarctica - tree fern

United Kingdom Gb

I was wondering if somone could give me advice on the care af a tree fern. I have 1 and am looking at buying a couple more. I have had it for 3 years now and it has been great but I did notice that the inside has got smaller each year and am not sure how to stop it. I think with the growth this year there will be no more room for it to grow next year and it cost alot of money so I dont want to spend more money on them if this is going to keep happneing. I have seen that they can grow really tall so am to sure why this has happened to mine. Please could you adivse. I am in the UK

Dont worry Tamara its fine, Mine is exactly the same and i have 11 fronds this year, the Trunk grows and expands so there's plenty room for new fronds, Great Plants arent they? And Welcome to GOY.... Dee..

Tree ferns are heavy feeders. Your tree fern is telling you that it needs fertilising. In Autumn, put organic material or fertiliser around the base of the tree fern. Once the new fronds emerge in late Spring, use liquid fertiliser on the fronds.
