side border - thanks Spritz!

I had another go at this yesterday and I ache so much today that I have done very little with it. Tried shredding the debris but the rain has made evrything too wet.
You may remember I removed half of the overgrown shrubs and left an area about 8ft wide with a huge viburnum doing badly in the corner.

Half an hour later the Viburnum was in a pile on the grass. Lots more brambles, hardy geraniums and nettles followed shortly into 2 piles. One pile for me to compost, the other for the council to compost. I then set about removing the buttercups, alkanet and any other plant that was still present.

Surprisingly the robin didnt show up until I had finished but one of the rabbits kept me company chatting away when fed the odd dandelion.

After a quick break I then stripped the bark off 4 ash saplings as a means of killing them, hubby can remove them at a time convenient to him. I tidied the edges of the grass and smoothed out the curve from last week.

I started looking at the various plants I have in pots and putting them on the ground. There is: a rose ‘Ghiselaine de foligonde’ a small Cercis Avondale 2 Hosta ‘fire and ice’, Penstemons, Persicaria ‘red dragon’, Digitalis lutea and a Phygellius ‘Ivory’ The space is quite large so i will have to buy plants. That will be another weekend soon.

I spent a bit of today photographing other plants in flower and during the week I will post them along with the details in my plant section.

Hope you like the hard work I have been doing.

You certainly put in a lot of hard, very physical work on your new border! Not surprising you feel so tired & have aches & pains all over! nevertheless, it's sure to look great later & you will have a great reward for all the hours of hard work you put in!
