Very tiny blog!

I don’t expect anyone else to be impressed, but we are delighted that our Prunus Autumnalis is finally covered in blossom in just its second year.

As I didn’t think my first photo was very good, I took another – even worse, lol!

A friend gave me these Hellebore seedlings, so it will be exciting to see what colour they are . . .

Happy Spring gardening everyone :)

Isn't it a great feeling Sheila, when a new tree produces blossom for the first time?...

Yes, very satisfying - thanks Julia :)

I am not surprised you are excited it is a lovely tree. I love the expectancy of a new hellebore.

I do Sheila...but struggling to find new projects now.

My brand new tree like yours is not yet planted but today it has started to blossom. I thought that the blossom appeared in the Autumn and winter and the leaves would be appearing now. Monday is the planting day, I can't wait
to see it in the Garden.

Well I'm impressed. The first years blossom is always quite an event.

Sheila even after all these years I get really excited when anything new has the first signs of a bud or as in your case blossom, Stera is so right , it is an event....

Marjorie, I find that this Cherry tends to flower sporadically, during mild spells, between December and April, but always comes to a full on flowering in early spring. Its a real joy. I’ve seen one in full bloom in February here is Angus. But it would still be flowering in late March. So different to other cherries that come and go so quickly!

Thank you Eileen, Marjorie, Sue and Lincs :) I hadn’t realised about the successive flowering Karen - so quite by chance it seems I made a good choice. Lucky!

It's the small victories that keep you going?!
Re: the photos- If you take the pic in the hour after sunset/before sunrise (what photographers call the blue hour) & use the flash, the tree & blossom will be brightly lit (not too close so the blossom turns white) but the background will be fairly dark still. That focuses the attention on the tree & separates it from the background.
Cherry blossom against a dark, stormy sky is always a winning shot for me

So nice to see colors besides gray and white. Seems like you turned that garden around in no time. Looks grand.

Sheila that is just the start of it and I hope your pretty Prunus will give you lots more blossom from now on. It is perfectly placed and I think your lawn looks immaculate too.

My tree like yours says that it blossoms intermittently from November to March so it appears to be out of sync. It is supposed also to be highly adaptable, spreading tree with attractive delicate looking blossom.
The Spring foliage is supposed to be handsome bronze - green which matures to a rich mix of orange and yellow by Autumn so I hope my tree does as it says because that is the reason I bought it. We will have to wait and see

P S it has only just started to blossom

Enjoy your tree Marj, and I hope its foliage will mature as it should.
