Shortest 'cowslip' blog ever!

Went for a walk wiith OH yesterday in the late afternoon to a local nature reserve. I wanted specifically to see the cowslips as everyone has been saying that “it’s a good year for cowslips”. We weren’t disappointed!

Obviously in a few weeks time there will be thousands of seeds … I might go collecting if I’m asked :) But I imagine that most of you will have cowslips in your garden – whether you sowed them or not?!

It is still a good blog, Sheila, as it shows off one of our most prized wildflowers! πŸ‘

I love them. We have to treat them a bit like weeds in our borders as oxlips and cowslips (some coloured) are taking over here. I suppose ours are 'mongrels'. These are wonderful. What a treat, Sheila.
I wish I could get primroses to do as well!

Thank you Ange ... yes, they are worth having even if they do do their own thing. I’m quite grateful for such plants as I don’t have to do anything!

Sheila, send us a few down here please! Many moons ago, GoY member Bampy (remember him?) kindly sent me some Cowslips which stayed in the garden for a couple of years. They just faded away, never to return.

If anyone wants to risk some seeds from my 'mongrel' cowslips, do let me know. I'll happily pass some on when fresh.

They are quite common around here - both wild & in people's gardens.

In the village where our daughter & gkids live they let them grow in their lawns & some people even cut the grass around them so as to leave them to grow for longer, though I think they probably cut the long grass after a couple of months. I think I may even have taken a couple of photos of them when we visited them at their home there. If I did I probably still have them on my computer. I shall have to do a search & see if I can find them.

The only thing missing is Julie Andrews. That meadow is breathtaking. Great pictures Sheila.

Will do Shirley ... goodness, yes I do remember Bampy - he was a great character!

Thanks Ange - any idea how long before they set seed??

Thanks very much Paul ... lovely comment πŸ™‚.

That sounds lovely Balcony - hope you can find the photos.

Sheila, I'm pleased you also remember Bampy, such a knowledgeable and talented man!

Sheila, I've had a look but it seems I don't have any photos of the Cowslips in people's lawn after all! 😞 I thought I did as that's something that drew my attention & often anything that draws my attention also gets photographed! (Especially if it's plant life!) πŸ˜‚
