Blogs minus their photos

I had hoped to catch up on GoY blogs this morning, starting from those from 22nd August.

Strangely, not one blog has a single photo showing up.

Anyone having the same problem?

Strangely,I've found comments disappear and have to be written again...most queer. Not tried a blog recently.

I have just looked at three blogs, and there are no photos on any of them! I used the ‘Contact us’ link to report it, but that gave me an ‘Oops, we’ve made a mistake’ message. I think this site is dying. :(

I sent an email using the address in Hywel’s blog.

Right, it is now 13.15 so about 4 hours since posting this blog and all the photos are back on view ... hooray! Gremlins on the loose earlier methinks!

Karen, 14.00 hours now and I can see photos on blogs back to 27th, get to yours about the apple canker and, voila, no photos at all! Whatever is going on?

Oh dear, this really is a continuing problem at the moment. Are we being neglected by those in charge?
Is anyone in charge?!

I don't think so W'rose, not anyone who cares anyway, two years back when I was having major problems I was that lonely I ventured out and joined other groups, since I did others have done the same thing, so I'm still chatting with a lot of the same people as well as finding other like-minded friendly people who are just as passionate as I am about their gardens, I know its not blog writing as we have on here and I would hate to lose Goy but if push comes to shove I am prepared....

I do hope it doesn't deteriorate more on GOY....would hate to move to another site, this one has always seemed just perfect.

Blogs posted from 27th August seem intact ... some prior to that have no photos ... same when I looked 2 days ago. I joined Growsonyou in 2010 and would really miss the site if it were to fold ... :o(

It’s very frustrating. I agree would be a really shame if the site closed! I only joined in early Spring! Have been really enjoying the group/forum..
I’ve had to reload some pictures too..:(

It's a very friendly community forum, don't you think?

Yes Julia, it is SO friendly and supportive in all things, not just gardening issues either.
If we DO have to move on, perhaps we could all join the same one.
Has anyone any suggestions just in case?

I haven't found anything like GoY. I've joined GardeningUK and Myscottishgarden on Facebook. But there is no catalogue facility and no blogging opportunity. I would really miss this. I will probably have to transfer my catalogue over to my Wordpress blog. But then I wouldn't have all of my GoY friends on that. Such a pity if it were to close.

I've been a member on GOY since Oct 2008, I hovered on the side from when it was first set up, its always been my favourite and I love it, been used as my garden diary ever since, however as I said I was very lonely when I couldn't access it, winter time as well which really upset me, the groups I use are all on FB, some people are still wary of FB but the groups I'm in are all closed groups and are monitored.. I can PM the names of the groups if you are interested, if you don't like them you can leave..Karen has already mentioned the biggest, there are a lot of us on GUK...

Karen what worries me is what happens to all our blogs, not just mine , I mean everybody, I tried many a time to figure out a way to back them all up, I'm not clever enough for that..

Hi Lincslass, I use an iPad when I’m on GOY, not sure what others do? I’ve managed to find a way to save my blogs.
If you highlight the blog text ( keep your finger on the last word of the blog until the word turns blue. Then drag the whole blue part right up to the first word, the whole text should be blue and the boxes should appear at the top. One of the options is ‘share’. Click on the option to share. You can then send the text via email to yourself and this saves your blog to email.
A laptop should be very similar, but this will also give you the option to save to the laptops internal memory.
Hope this is of some help? x

So simple when you know how Kate! Thanks :)

No problem Karen! Saying that, it was the OH that helped out! I had no idea! ;))

1 Sep, 2019

Oh thankyou Kate, I'll give that a try, last time I did try I had a very clear header page but no blog, if I disappear for months you'll all know it worked and I'm busy saving years worth of blogs, lol..

1 Sep, 2019

Yeah...don't think I'll bother saving my blogs. But I'm writing more to my Wordpress blog now, and I'll be printing off a copy of my garden catalogue too.

Sounds a good idea Karen.

Oh Lincslass, I hope it works for you, plus, hopefully you don’t vanish amid a mass of blogs for too long!

A couple of weeks ago I got an email notification that the only other gardening forum I had posting on was about close down & we had only a couple of weeks in which to download all our data, if we were interested! Which, in part is why I haven't written on here in a few weeks! How do you download 10 years of your data in only a few weeks??? After GoY, it's the second longest forum of which I have been a member! I have until 14th of this month to finish doing it - & now I hear that even GoY maybe in trouble! :(

At least the great majority of my blogs on GoY have been backed up on my Wordpress blog! I haven't posted more than 1 or 2 blogs on GoY during the last year so I won't have many left to do!

If GoY really does go then I will be left without a gardening forum to post on! :'(
