"Oops, I did it again!"

Yesterday we visited a family run plant nursery, mainly to purchase small plants to fill two manger baskets on the South facing front wall. Last year they weren’t on display as Lockdown prevented us from going out and about and the walls did look bare without them!

Here is how they have looked in previous years.

We gathered up a selection in shades of blue, purple and yellow of Bidens, trailing Verbena, Calibrachoa, Osteospermum and an Ipomoea with deep purple foliage. There are a couple of trailing plants with bright lime green foliage but I cannot remember the name of it. No label in the pots either, no worries as I know where they’ll be planted!

The three glasshouses had plenty of signage reminding buyers not to plant out until all danger of frost has passed, early May was suggested, so I shall play ‘Hokey-Cokey’ with them, in at night and out during the day.

Did I buy anything off the Wishlist, you bet I did!

Another Nepeta (Catmint) as Megancat loves it so much, a Red Hot Poker as the short Popsicle ones have vanished from my garden, a Geranium sanguineum ‘Vision Light Pink’ as one I had ordered failed to arrive. Also, a Teucrium fruticans Azureum (not on the list) with blue flowers and some Antirrhinums for planting in a little wooden wheelbarrow.

Perhaps I should stay at home tomorrow to give my purse a rest!

No putting your feet up now,Shirley .....you've had several successful trips to the GCs.....do you have a preplanned idea of where each plant is going?

I reckon the trailing one with lime green leaves is Creeping
Jenny, Lysimachia mummularia. Your two window boxes are absolutely gorgeous!

Your flower boxes were beautiful Shirley_tulip. Looking forward to see this year's creations.

Gosh Shirley!!! You’re going to be so very busy!!! It’s all rather exciting though isn’t it!!! I have the ‘creeping Jenny’ on my rockery, it’s starting to perk up again with the milder weather.
I’m looking forward to seeing your new window box creations too, the previous ones were very colourful and vibrant.

Shirley your summer display is going to look very pretty indeed with those lovely plants and colour choices.
It is worth getting them early because you have lots of choice.

Love the pictures of your mangers, they'll be fantastic this year.
You're going to be busy over the next few days/weeks. You're not preparing for another lockdown I hope.

Julia, a very loose plan in my head! Until the builders have created a new garden path I really can't decide on the final planting ... :o)

Thanks Sue, that sounds about right. I always like to have something bright to show against the white walls.

Klahanie, Kate, Chris, Sbg and Siris - your comments are really appreciated - thank you so much - :o))

Shirley, your old planters are a joy to behold! I shall look forward to seeing this year's colour combinations. I love the orangey ones, particularly. I'm glad Megancat is part of your new plant deliberations - goodness knows where my Walker's Low has gone after Malkin's continuous attentions!
Has your list got shorter, or is it like mine, you just add more plants to the end of it?

I totally understand your trips timing lol, sure it was to miss the Easter weekend madness 😁. Your planters looked lovely and I'm sure they will this year. Last year was wo hard wasn't it in trying to find plants with the lockdown. I remember on our town Facebook page, people having a go at someone who bought some plants from B&M saying that plants were not essential goods. I don't often comment on the page but did suggest that to some, plants were essential to their mental health. So glad it's not like that this year.

Anget, the year I planted the baskets with 'caramel' tones was hot and sunny for a long time and they really thrived. I don't think my list will ever get too short . . . there's always something to be changed in the garden!

Hello Mossy, I appreciate your comment, thank you.

Jen, we decided last weekend to go out on Monday and Tuesday, not at all interested in going out over the Easter break as, being near the coast, it will be so busy everywhere local. I agree wholeheartedly that plants are definitely an aid to mental well being for many folk. I think this past year has proved just that.

Shirley, you are just like me! I go out with one plant in mine and come back with a boot full!
I love this time of year for planning different ideas and buying new plants ! You have a lovely collection there ! Your display is going to look lovely!

Rose, I have a feeling there are many GoY members with just the same line of thinking regarding plant purchases. We have the builders starting the new garden path on Tuesday so the plants can be put in place when it's all built - hooray!

Wow, Shirley plenty of purchases there...
