Two weeks in the life of a Kiwi

By siris

Under our carport I have a “self fertile” Actonidia deliciosa which has just started blooming.

The flowers started white and have matured to a cream colour. I did rub pollen from one flower onto another and now I wait to see if any fruit will be formed, as Kiwis are usually dioecious.

The flowers, there are over a dozen, really are quite pretty and face downwards, so you view them from below.

I think the answer to the fruit question is No, as there are now several dropped flowers on the ground – Pity!

Deliciosa – I should be so lucky!

What pretty flowers they have. Sure I've seen single plants fruiting so don't despair.

Tuesday - Six flowers dropped, 9 left. Think I will just have to enjoy their beauty.

It's a good job they're pretty, cause only 3 flowers left, no fruit bud!

You might be lucky, all my flowers dropped off last week...nothing. Have to see next year, or I will threaten it with replacement with a fig.
