Crab Apple Tree

No more Crab Apple jelly. The Council have removed the tree on the verge outside our property. One of 2 along the avenue, that have been removed after about 30 years there. It was declared damaged. That was caused by the Coucils grass cutting machine ring barking the trunk whilst mowing and dogs relieving themselves up it.
On the plus side no more squashed fruits migrating up the drive, and no more ammunition for the school kids to chuck against the windows.
Also there is no shadow caused all the morning at our entry, better to grow fussy Irises.
There are more trees further along the road should i feel the need to make this time consuming jelly.
It does look as if the root is resprouting.

I agree with Kate, it sounds more positive and though it's always sad to cut any tree down, hopefully the Council took advice and it really was too damaged to save. Long live the Iris's!!!

There's a plus and minus side to everything, But I think there are more pluses here. I like trees but not too near the house.
I wonder what the council will do about the resprouting stump ?

Probably nothing, Hywel, then there will be a multi stemmed bush. The grass cutting chap has already grounched his machine on the exposed stump.

always sad to lose a tree but better options for you as you say. Wonder why humans enjoys throwing round objects?

I’d say more positives than negatives, Sue!
