Thank you

Thanks to everyone who commented on my blogs and welcomed me to GOY. What a nice friendly group ya’ll are.

If you think about it anything that ‘s in a TV dinner can be frozen — such as mashed potatoes or french fries. Look through the frozen section of your grocery store. I make spaghetti and freeze it. I freeze tomatoes whole and when I thaw spaghetti, chili, or any kind of soup I also thaw a tomato to mash and stir into the mix. I do that to get added nutrition without going to a lot of trouble. I don’t want to learn canning so I make all kinds of soups and freeze them i.e. carrot soup, beet soup, cauliflower soup, broccoli soup. I even have some lettuce soup in my freezer. I made pumpkin pies and cut them into portion sizes then froze them. It’s just another way to store pumpkin.

This year I’m adding potatoes and corn to the garden. I’m growing the potatoes in tubs which will be my first attempt at that. The only problem I anticipate is coons eating the corn. I read that a virtual fence of cucumbers with their prickly leaves will keep coons out. Then squash vine borers become a problem in the cukes but I had good luck last summer growing radishes right up against cucumber plants and letting the radishes go to seed. It kept the vine borers away and I harvested tons of radish seeds which I can use this year to keep vine borers away again.
