Another water feature

I’ve been collecting Staffordshire ‘Blues’ to re-pave my yard since moving in last year. I think I finally have enough, combined with some old reclaimed quarry tiles, to pave the main square.
I’ve managed to grab a few days off work and the sun is shining – not too strongly today, thankfully, but I did work up a bit of a sweat shifting the first paving slab.
1. Dismantle the log store. Hadn’t realised that I’d fixed it together so securely as it was only ever intended as a temporary structure until the paving was done.

2. Log store dismantled – it will be resurrected when the paving is finished, along with a wheelie bin store (currently housing half of my ‘Blues’) made from a couple of blue pallets. I really liked the colour.

3. Hole dug out and small pebble pond (£5 from eBay) in place, ready for backfilling under the rim. That half slab is well and truly concreted in place and means that the pond isn’t quite as far into the corner as I wanted but it will be somewhere to stand a couple of pots.

4. A few of the hostas and acers that will have to move around each time I need to lift a slab.

5. Lunch time over – back to work!
6. Defeated by the heat in the afternoon but managed to fix the first few bricks, after a couple of false starts trying to get a circle around the pebble pond.

Hoping that I will get quicker tomorrow as the slabs aren’t cemented in and I’ve got the line of the bricks sorted out.

You're doing very are certainly industrious!
It's been too hot here today to do anything too strenuous!

I had to come indoors from 3 - 7 Paul, so haven't done as much as I had hoped. Just been out and started laying a few of the bricks, having realised that my plan for them to radiate from the pebble pond won't work without leaving very big gaps between the bricks.
Now need to work out a new design - now it will be rectangles rather than circles.

I've advertised the slabs on freecycle in the hope that some one will be happy to come and take away a few each day.

That is going to look really smart when you have laid the new pavers and the little water feature will still look smashing with the plants at the back of it, is your yard a suntrap, no way would you have worked out on my yard or patio today, you would have been ill, typical isn't it, we longed for the summer to come and then when it does it goes to other extreme, I am lucky though as the bottom half of the garden is very shady, its my oasis when its too hot in or near the house....

Phew, that made me hot just looking at the work involved. Looking forward to seeing the finished result but for goodness sake don't overdo it in this heat.

It was a bit warm mid-afternoon Lincs. Not so bad today - clouding over and very humid rather than sunny and hot.
I've been in and out today rather than having a constant slog at it.
