Spellbound by the roses!

The roses in our garden have never been as good as they have been so far this year and I know I have mentioned it before, but I never imagined they could all be so lovely, so numerous and so healthy all at once!

We have not treated them differently, so it must be because of the weather in the winter and early spring. It is drizzling at the moment but I can add a few close ups, starting with 3 new roses this year:
Absolutely Fabulous
Proper Job
Chandos Beauty
Each one has a really lovely scent

The next two are taken through the window because the drizzle is drizzling more heavily than it was!
Rosy Cushion
The Prince’s Trust

Here is Rosy Cushion on the kitchen window sill with Gertrude Jekyll behind it – what a scent it gives!

The next rose is one of our favourites and at separate times we have managed to buy 3 in total without remembering we already had it!
Champagne Moments – no scent but a pretty soft peach colour fading to creamy white.

In order to complete my rosy blog I have braved the VERY heavy drizzle and taken a few more photos plus raindrops!

Three more before ‘rain stopped play!’

Do you have a rose to recommend as I can always find room for just one more? Maybe two?!

Chris, a few years ago I didn't want any roses in my garden, thinking they were too much trouble what with, black spot, aphids, suckers, etc then I was seduce into buying my first rose, a climber Gertrude Jekyll. Since then I have bought three standard roses, Special Anniversary, Dawn Chorus, and Hot Chocolate. I also have something like 16 other I think you can safely say I've changed my mind. Your roses are gorgeous and I totally agree with you they do seem to be doing better this year than usual.

I’d love to grow roses but lack the confidence as I never had any success growing them. Maybe I should just try one ......

They are all so beautiful Wildrose. Wishing once again we could put scents on here!

Wouldn't be able to suggest any more but a day out to one of the Devon nurseries might tempt you...

I always recommend ‘Chartreuse De Parme’. Because the scent is just beautiful and also the colour which is purple, fading to mauve.
