Daylilies 7

Starting daylilies from seed can be an adventure because of all the variables of F1/2 crosses that happen in any number of species.
I have one from some seeds I bought, Amber Rhum x Kazoo. The seedling I got from it was this:

It is one that I have used many times, but the results are varied. I wanted to put a nice edge on it, so I started with Natchez Lace:

It has a very ruffled edge, and the result is this:

Then I tried ‘Gilded by Grace’ as pollen parent:

It has a great multi-colored edge, and I have 2 different results today:

I also wanted to try and put teeth on it, so I used ‘Sad Sack’ as pollen parent:

Today’s result is, again, 2 you might not think are siblings:

Then, another factor can be a seedling settling into what its mature form will be. Here are some comparisons from a year ago to today:
Blue Oasis x Lines of Splendor:

Dragonfly Dawn x Emozione:

Dragonfly Dawn x You Looking At Me:

And if you are real lucky you get a brag flower like its sibling. A year ago:

And today:

There are those that look good from the first flower like Blue Oasis x Lines of Splendor:

And there are those that last year were not worth a second look, but today make me glad I am giving everyone 2 years now to show off.
Blue Oasis x Wachyl Lavender Blue:

There are some real beauties there Wylie. I like 1,4,6,7 and then I lost count. Some stunners there for sure. You should feel very proud.

I lost count too but I really liked the white one with red on it.You've certainly got those frilly edges! Favourites from the bottom up re 3, 7 & 8.
It would help if you put numbers on them!

It certainly seems worth giving Daylilies a second year for the flower to show its full potential. Some super ones there, well done.

Thanks for the suggestions. When I am out in the fields taking photos and making crosses, I use location numbers, then come to the computer and look them up. That flower program I mentioned really helps because I list the new ones by their location. Individual files then have the parents listed along with specs and a photo. I also put photos on Flickr using location/seedling number/parents.
My favorite of this bunch is the 3rd from last :)

I agree, it's a cracker. Gives the appearance of a hose in hose flower.

The Blue Oasis x Lines of Splendor is stunning. It has several scapes, and when they all have flowers open at the same time, it is amazing.
