Daylily 12

This one is a little complicated, but it is the path to several flowers that are related.
First, I took ‘Buster Ruster’

Using it as pod parent, I used the pollen from (Fuchsia Four x Grape Splash). This was from seeds I had bought on a daylily auction site, and it has a large number of polymerous flowers.

The result was [Buster Ruster x (Fuchsia Four x Grape Splash)], which also has a high percentage of polymerous flowers.

It seemed like a good idea to try and cross this with a double, and of two very good DIP doubles that I have, Sebastian the Crab was available.

So I got a pod of seeds, started them, and put out 5 seedlings. Some I have already included in a blog, but here are all 5:

  1. BL-U#19

  1. BL-U#21

  1. BL-U#24

  1. BL-U#29

  1. BL-U#73

The one that opened today is #5 and is a great example of what a Spatulate type of an Unusual form (UFO) should look like.
Also open today is [(Blue Eyed Bandit x Whale Tails) x El Aventura], which has an enormous band on the petals.

Buster Ruster is a stunner and my favourite here. Love it.

Like particularly the first seedling of your 5, with the pinched sepals.

All nice in their own way lovely shape on the 5th one down.

Thanks! That spatulate one is a lot more than I had hoped for. If the ends had not been flat, but quilled, it would then be a Quilled Crispate type. But it shows you never know what you will get from seed.
