Late July flowers

If you want a nice mid-size tree, the Albizia is a good one. It can be trimmed to stay much smaller, but it is loaded with flowers at this time of year.
Of course the heat loving Hibiscus are in flower, and here is Hibiscus ‘Safari’. You practically need sunglasses for it.
Ice plants also do well in this heat. Here is Machairophyllum brevifolium.
I have a wall of Lantana camara.
One of the best shrubs, in spite of it needing pruning every year, is Plumbago.
And finally there is my registration for 2022. I did only one this year and was approved today. It is named ‘Pico da Falco’ or Falcon’s Peak.

well done on the daylily, it is beautiful.
I also love plumbago, such a good blue.

This is daylily #16 for me. It is located about 3 meters away from the Albizia. The plumbago is one of the best blue flowers around and holds up really well during periods of little rain.

I have Albizia but it is not blooming yet. We had very cold spring and this tree is leafing here very late every year. My Albizia is getting big, wider than yours Wylie and never bloomed so heavily ever. it is a lovely tree and I do like its foliage which interestingly "closes" every night. I have it for about 12 years. How old is yours and do you prune it? It is not a usual tree here so I do not know how much to prune without killing it.
I like your daylily very much.

I grew my Albizia from seed about 18 years ago and haven't done a lot of pruning, so it grows up instead of out. It is used by the road works people as a tree alongside the roads over in Angra do Heroismo, and they only lightly prune every year, just enough to encourage it to grow out instead of up. I bet I could take 1/3rd off with no problem.

The Machairophyllum is a strange plant since it opens in the late afternoon after a morning of full sun.
